(Singapore) Timothee Ledure: Our AI generates job description recommendations to help companies attract more candidates.

A quick introduction about what your company does/your values/mission.

Our mission is fair hiring – diverse, equitable and transparent. Our AI generates job description recommendations to help companies attract more candidates. It also eliminates gender bias and discriminatory phrases.

Tell us about yourself?

I was employee no 6 at BitTitan, a cloud migration startup which grew to 250 employees and got acquired by Idera. I was also the first engineer at Wise Singapore, a fintech startup which did an IPO. I left Wise three months ago to focus full-time on JobWiz.
JobWiz started as a job portal 5 years ago when my wife was looking for a job. It was just a fun project but I quickly realized that most job descriptions don’t contain the information that job seekers are looking for. This is why 77% of companies struggle to fill their job roles, which is a 17-year high. We’ve built a job description review AI to solve this, which we’ve trained with our job portal data.

If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

Keep the startup expenses low at the beginning. We ended up pivoting from the job portal to the job description review AI. The pivot could have been cheaper if we had started with a smaller team.

What problem does your business solve?

Hiring. We help companies double their number of candidates for $20/month while keeping the same quality.

What is the inspiration behind your business?

It started when my wife was looking for a job and none of the job descriptions contained the information she was looking for (e.g. salary, working from home, flexible hours, vacation). We spent hundreds of hours gathering the information on the hundreds of companies hiring software engineers in Singapore. Instead of keeping it in a private spreadsheet, we built a job portal for software engineering roles in Singapore, which we later extended to more roles, with the option for employers to add their own. My wife ended up applying to one company, which she joined.

What is your magic sauce?

We’re using the data of our job portal to train AI models to generate job description recommendations. We have more data insights than any other company on what make job seekers apply.

What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?

We want to eliminate discrimination from job descriptions. 1 out 4 job seekers face discrimination during their job search. We also want to push companies to share their salary ranges and company perks.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?

A lot of recruiters don’t seem to be interested in finding out whether their job advertisements are discriminatory or underperforming. They’re too focused on what they spend most of their time on, which is sourcing.

How do people get involved/buy into your vision?

We believe we can help companies of any size double their number of candidates and increase their diversity. We offer a 7-day free trial for our job description tool:
