Dr Angayar Pavanasam: Artificial Intelligence (AI) Assisted Platform That Primarily Focuses on Providing a Fun Journey of Mathematics Learning

June 4, 2022

We are in the early stage startup company developing an Artificial Intelligence (AI) assisted platform that primarily focuses on providing a FUN journey of mathematics learning through an evidence and research based creative content.

Tell us about yourself?

I am a PhD graduate from UNSW, Sydney and all my dissertations since my undergraduation were on mathematical models. I was fortunate enough to get exposed to different ethnic students ranging from my own land India, to SIngapore, Malaysia, Australia, Oman, & UK which helped me to understand better about the educational system globally and importantly the gap that is still existing between theory & practice especially in Mathematics.

If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

When an idea sparks your mind, today is already late. So got to give it a shot just then.

What problem does your business solve?

Transform Math anxious society to Math Enthusiast / Explorer filled society.

What is the inspiration behind your business?

Math is everywhere but majority of the population thinks they are allergic to Math. So infuse the beauty, elegance and simplicity of Math in the mind of students, to begin with.

What is your magic sauce?

My content is not oriented towards textbook content, rote learning, working out typical examples, instead it is more of constructivist learning methodology where the student will use what she/he already know about the problem & relating to real life applications and the learning process starts from there by critical & creative problem solving routes.

What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?

In this early-stage, the module development is for a particular group of audience which will be only 1% of target audience. In the next 5 years, while scaling up, would want to see a change of atleast increase of 25% students responds favorably about the Math subject.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?

There is a long way to reach out to wider audience. Though have validated the idea through many sources (public, teachers, students, AWS, Freshworks, etc), but I am still learning to find ways to reach efficiently.

How do people get involved/buy into your vision?

We want Bill & Belinda Foundation, Wallace Foundation and our local government educational department to start collaborating for an effective reach to our students to building a math-informed society.
